From 1990 to 2005, AOF and the Thai Women Chamber created a bridge of learning and inspiration through the Thailand Agri-Women Exchange Project. Over these 15 years, more than 300 Sri Lankan women leaders and entrepreneurs travelled to Thailand, stepping into farms, workshops, and training centres where advanced techniques and innovative ideas were flourishing.

For many, it was their first exposure to modern agricultural technologies, new production methods, creative design, and stronger management practices. The cross-cultural experience opened their eyes to what was possible in their own communities back home.

Armed with fresh knowledge and confidence, participants returned to Sri Lanka ready to experiment, adapt, and grow. Many went on to build successful enterprises—drawing on insights gained from Thailand’s more developed agricultural sector and transforming them into opportunities for local progress.
